One More Cup Of Coffee...

One More Cup Of Coffee by Vanessa MacLeod
Poor Flo!  She was just trying to get through another shift at the diner; wasn't expecting the customers to be so damn hungry!  Now she's the one with the appetite.  Perhaps her zombie brain will find it's way back to her boyfriends house...

Where Do We Go From Here?

Where Do We Go From Here? By Vanessa MacLeod

This illustration is an ode to summers past.  When we were all still so young, and responsibility was some minimum wage job that paid for Cd's, movie tickets, cigarettes, and beer.  When we had songs like Creep and 1979 ringing in our ears.  Where there was always someone, somewhere, jamming on a guitar.  When no matter what was planned there was always time for a trip to the lake.  And night or day, it was our own loud and carefree voices that dominated the airwaves.  Here's to those awesome friends.  Here's to all those crushes and loves and friendships.  Here's to growing up in the 90's.  Here's to those irreplaceable summers and a time when the future had not yet arrived.

Mint Chocolate Chip

Mint Chocolate Chip by Vanessa MacLeod

It sure has been a rainy June!  Sunday was spent indoors and my son and I baked some chocolate-chip cookies and listened to the Rushmore soundtrack.  The music got me thinking, so I tried to make this girl a bit like a character in a Wes Anderson movie.  I also felt she deserved some cute pajamas.  So I went with some minty green ones!

Afternoon Break

Afternoon Break by Vanessa MacLeod
After a long bout of rainy weather, the grass in my yard was about a foot high!  Today was a nice break, especially after last nights thunderstorm and tornado warning (!)  But grass cutting with my mower is no easy feat, I was ready to throw that son of a b**** down!  However, after a few very long breaths, I tackled it one more time and she started up!  Not only did it teach me perseverance but it also inspired this drawing.   I also feel I must pay my respects to the garden frogs who didn't escape the blades of the mower!

Modern Love

Modern Love by Vanessa MacLeod
Do you remember the first time a painting or illustration inspired you? Maybe it was some graffiti on the side of an old shopping mall or a doodle from a best friend.  Maybe it was the first time you hit pencil to paper and realized how awesome it felt to create something.  To all those artists out there, thank you!
